Oh, happy day!

Hello, and welcome to our very first Saturday school! Yes, it was a happy day indeed! In the morning, we were pretty excited to arrive at Lighthouse—F was the first one, followed by Ellie, then Noah, and Una. Emmie came later after lunch.

Free Play

The big table was set up with sheets of paper and some markers.

F made a drawing of a house, and she said, "It's Fu and mommy and daddy's house," she told us. "What is that?" she asked as she looked over at Ellie's drawing. Ellie smiled at her and kept on drawing. "Oh, that's a dress!" F said when Ellie was done.

After they drew, they sat with Sara as she read a book to them. Noah and Una arrived later on, and then we had a fun music session! Sara played the violin for us, and John was on the guitar. We sang our favorite classics: "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," "Wheels on the Bus," "Old MacDonald," and "BINGO."

We also got the chance to play with toys—Pauline wanted to build a tower, which got knocked down by the wind and we burst out laughing. John brought out some interesting boxes that could also be stacked into a tower. F and Ellie gave it a try. They were able to make it! But, Johnsaurus—Rex, and Saraceratops wanted to knock it down! F and Ellie giggled and surrounded their tower. "No!" Ellie said, spreading out her arms to protect their tower.

Park Time

We went to Roppongi Nishi Park, and we were delighted to see that it has a playground! We immediately tried out the slide and the rope wall. Then, we noticed that Una was interested in "cooking" using acorns and sand, so we gathered more for her. Una also took some dried leaves.

"I'm making a burrito," she told us.

"The store is now open!" Noah announced. "It's a free store!"

"Here's a chicken burrito!" Una said. "Do you want one?" she offered Ellie.

"Yes!" Eli replied with a nod.

"I'm getting more acorns!" F said and went under the tree where there were more. Pauline suddenly cackled like a witch and said, "Weeeelll... I need some children burrito!" Ellie ran away as fast as she could.

"Catch me! Catch me!" she said as she giggled. Noah, F, and Una also ran away as fast as they could while shrieking with laughter because John- John tried to catch them and eat them, too! Haha! Is it because Halloween is coming soon? Why is everyone trying to eat the children?

:D

Afternoon Session: Story Time and Music Session

As Halloween was coming close, Pauline thought she could read "The Gruffalo" to us by Julia Donaldson.

"What are the things you can think about Halloween?" Pauline asked.

"Monsters," Emmie replied.

"Witch," Una said.

"Vampire!" Noah said.

"Do you already have a Halloween costume?" Pauline asked.

"Elsa!" F replied.

"Same- Elsa," Emmie said.

"Anna," Ellie said.

"A bat," Una said.

"Hmm... well... I'm still choosing..." Noah said.

Pauline finally read the book with a lot of suspense and bloopers (She said "The End!" happily when she wasn't done yet, and we all erupted in "Noooo!" and she also tried to change the ending of the story to which there was another round of "Nooo!") We all thought that the story was a teeny- tiny bit scary, but laughed when the Gruffalo was scared of the mouse!

Afternoon Session: Story Time and Music Session

For the second half, John showed us some pictures of hands, feet, question marks, and the floor. He used it for rhythm practice, and the pictures signified the movement. It was nice to see the fantastic children who tirelessly participated and did the whole movement and tempo coordination.

We also did making the "a" and "oo" sounds. It was great to see how well we listened to the activity and followed through with the instructions. John even asked us to stand up and sing the "Simon Says" song. Lastly, we also sang and danced to the song "I'm in the mood for singing." Our music time was full of joy and entertainment today!

That's all for today—what a fantastic Saturday! We wonder what's in store for us for next week?

Love,

All the happy Lighthouse friends
